Ellen Moors is full professor of Innovation and Sustainability and head of the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development. Her research focuses on the dynamics and governance of technological innovations in science-based sectors, such as in health and life sciences and agri-food. She studies how socio-technical transitions increasingly ask for legitimation, institutionalisation and co-creation with users, using institutional, social entrepreneurship and user-innovation theories. Responsible research and innovation (RRI) is an important topic in her work, taking into account societal challenges, values, and welfare issues to ensure sustainable transitions, especially in healthcare and food. She has published more than 80 articles and book chapters on the dynamics of socio-technical innovations, sustainable and responsible health innovations, user-producer interactions, and innovation-regulation issues in both innovation, transition and sustainability journals (e.g. Research Policy, Environmental Innovation and Societal Transition) and health and life sciences journals (e.g. Nature Biotechnology, Trends in Biotechnology, Drug Discovery Today). She co-edited a book on Emerging Technologies for Diagnosing Alzheimer's Disease. She teaches about societal challenges and innovation theories, and sustainable health and medical technologies, both in the bachelor Natuurwetenschap en Innovatiemanagement (NWI) and in the master program Innovation Sciences (IS). She is member of the Dutch Advisory Board for Science, Technology and Innovation (AWTI) and the Committee on Genetic Modification (COGEM),  and board member of Future Food Utrecht.
