Switch from text messages to an app for 2FA

  • Text messages (SMS) for two-factor authentication (2FA) will end on 1 August 2021.
  • If you are currently using text messages for your 2FA, switch to an alternative method before this date in order to keep using UU services that are protected by 2FA.

Why switch?

Many employees and students have set up text messages (SMS) to authenticate for 2FA. As more and more services (such as Office 365) are secured with 2FA, the number of SMS messages sent has increased enormously. This brings high costs with it. Using a more modern alternative such as an app is free of cost for everyone. Therefore, text messages for two-factor authentication (2FA) will end on 1 August 2021.

How to switch?

Are you currently using text messages for your 2FA? Switching is easy. With this manual you can switch to an app in 7 steps. You can also go directly to the mysolis-id portal to change your 2FA method.
