Edith Desiree de Leeuw (http://edithl.home.xs4all.nl/) is emiritus professor of survey methodology at the department of methodology and statistics at Utrecht University.  She received the Monroe G. Sirken award in interdisciplinary survey research method (AAPOR/AMSTAT), the WAPOR's Helen Dinerman prize for lifetime contributions to the field of public opinion and the ESRA award for outstanding services to survey research. She was a Fulbright scholar with Don Dillman at Washington State University and visiting scholar of the Program on Social Statistics at UCLA.  She is a fellow of the Interuniversities Joint Institute for Psychometrics and Sociometrics (IOPS) in the Netherlands, and was awarded the Visiting International Fellowship at the Institute of Social Research, University of Surrey. Edith has over 150 scholarly publications and was co-editor of 5 internationally renowned books on survey methodology: Experimental Methods in Survey Reserach, Total Survey Error in Practice, The International Handbook of Survey methodology, Advances in Telephone Survey Methodology, and Survey Measurement and Process Quality. She co-edited special issues on survey nonrespons, missing data, measurement error, and total survey error.Her most recent publications focus on nonresponse, survey attitudes and survey climate, mixed-mode studies and online surveys, and comparative and cross-national research. Edith is currently Associate Editor for the Journal of Official Statistics (JOS) and editor of MDA (Methods, Data, Analyses); she is also on the editorial board of renowned international journals in the field of survey methodology, such as IJPOR, Field Methods, SMR, & BMS. She served on the methods advisory board and still serves on the ethics board of the European Social Survey.
