Reindert Dhondt is Assistant Professor at the Department of Languages, Literature and Communication.

 

Teaching

He lectures on Spanish and Latin American literature and literary theory both at undergraduate and graduate level. Currently he coordinates the undergraduate programme of Spanish Language and Culture. [see Teaching]

 

Research

His expertise lies in discourse analysis, memory studies and affect theory. His current research deals with the transnational dimension of the Hispanic essay and the representation of violence in Mexican and Colombian literature, particularly in fictional and non-fictional narratives on kidnapping and forced displacement. [see Research]

He has obtained different grants, such as a FWO-Vlaanderen postdoctoral research fellowship and a Fulbright fellowship, and has made several research stays at different universities, among which Brown University, UCLA and UNAM. [see Curriculum Vitae]

He is a member of the research institute ICON, the Netherlands Research School for Literary Studies, and the research groups Red VYRAL (Violencia y Representación en América Latina) and MeMo (Mediating Memories of Fascism, Dictatorship and War).

 

Publications

He is the author of Carlos Fuentes y el pensamiento barroco (Iberoamericana-Vervuert, 2015), and has coedited Transnacionalidad e hibridez en el ensayo hispánico. Un género sin orillas (with Dagmar Vandebosch, 2016), International Don Quixote (with Theo D’haen, Rodopi, 2009), as well as several thematic issues in journals such as Anales de literatura hispanoamericana and CO(n)TEXTES.

He has published in different journals, such as Confluencia, Neophilologus, Mitologías Hoy, and Image & Narrative. [see List of publications]
