Cel biological & Reproduction laboratory

Research:

The research at the ‘cel biological & reproduction laboratory’ falls within the research programme ‘Biology of Reproductive Cells’ of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.  The research focuses on the processes that prepare mammalian oocytes for fertilization, fertilization and early mammalian development, particularly of the pig and cattle. Simultaneously, we study the processes that regulate cellular developmental potency in adult and embryonic stem cells.

Diagnostics:

Blood samples are analysed for hormone profiles (contact: C Oei)
Semen samples (particularly of the horse) are analysed for sperm quality. Also, semen samples are frozen and stored (contact: A Rijneveld)
