Postgraduate Master 'Veterinary Science'
Three master programmes, taught in English, are organised as part of the postgraduate master degree programme 'Veterinary Science' of the Veterinary School of the faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Various departments of the faculty of Veterinary Medicine are responsible for the organisation, content and quality of the programmes.
Admission
There is a Student Admission Committee for each of the programmes. Candidates with a university degree in veterinary medicine and one year of
professional experience, can apply for admission.
The MSc programmes aim at a deepening of the knowledge in a specific veterinary discipline. The programmes have a duration of 18 months (90 ECTS) with an educational part of 6 months (classes, practicals, case studies and demonstrations; together 30 ECTS) and a research component of 12 months (60 ECTS). The students are examined and need to pass the examinations before they can start with the research part. A research project is selected within one of the research programmes of IVR and the project should at least result in a manuscript for a publication in English in a peer-reviewed international journal.
What's next?
Students who have successfully completed one of the MSc courses can apply for admission to PhD track within one of the IVR research programmes. If admitted as PhD student, the student may be awarded waivers for large parts of the IVR education programme. Scientific data and publications obtained during the MSc period may also be included in the PhD thesis
