Courses
Important information
Before choosing your studyprogramme read carefully the information about:
Course load
Academic load at Utrecht University is based on ECTS credits. To be considered as full-time, students must enrol in between 30 ECTS credits per semester or 60 ECTS credits per academic year. Most courses at the faculty of Social Sciences are worth 7,5 ECTS units of credit each with some courses
having a higher or lower value.
A full-time student will typically enrol in 4 x 7.5 ECTS credits of courses per
semester (2 X 7.5 ECTS credits each block)
Timeslots
Utrecht University works with timeslots. Timeslots divide the week in dif-
ferent parts to prevent a clash in course times. It is usually NOT possible
to choose courses that are scheduled in the same timeslot. There are inci-
dental cases where courses do not overlap, but more often than not, cour-
ses in the same time slot cannot be followed together. You can choose one
course per timeslot. If two timeslots are indicated for one course, that means that course times may be scheduled in both timeslots.
