• Macropalaeobotany and in situ pollen and spores from the Middle Jurassic of Yorkshire, England.

• Member of the Azolla-research group, with special interest in fossil Azolla species.

• Macropalaeobotany, ecology and in situ pollen and spores from the Late Jurassic flora of Sutherland, Scotland (with Dr. van der Burgh, Utrecht). 

• Late Triassic flora from Bavaria, Germany (with Dr. Kelber, Würzburg). 

• Rhaeto-Liassic flora from Bavaria, Germany (with Dr. Kirchner, München en mr. Schmeißner, Kulmbach). 

• LM, SEM and TEM work on fossil in situ spores and pollen (ferns and gymnosperms); comparison with living material 

• LM, SEM and TEM werk on fossil cuticules (with Dr. Guignard, Dr. Thevenard and Prof. Barale, Lyon) 

• Ladinian and Anisian floras from the Dolomites (with Dr. Evelyn Kustatscher, Bolzano and Mr. Wachtler, Innichen, Italy) 

Next to the Laboratory of Palaeobotany and Palynology, I also work at Naturalis, Leiden University, as a parttime professor Palaeobotany.
