Cedric Ryngaert heeft de Henri Rolin-prijs ontvangen voor zijn werk over jurisdictie. Deze prijs wordt eenmaal in de vijf jaar uitgereikt aan de auteur van het beste Belgische werk inzake internationaal recht en internationale betrekkingen.
Cedric Ryngaert is als hoofddocent internationaal recht verbonden aan het departement Rechtsgeleerdheid van de faculteit Recht, Economie, Bestuur en Organisatie (REBO). De motivering van de jury was als volgt (in het Engels).

The jury proposes to award the prize to Cedric Ryngaert for his study on ‘Jurisdiction in International Law’. The motivation is as follows. The dense study reflects an impressive use of the literature and rests on abundant and solid documentation. The analysis is the fruit of a structured reflection and adds to existing scientific knowledge. It benefits from a clear and nuanced expression, appropriate for the development of a synthetic and innovating argument. The thesis expresses well the complexity of the subject, as well as the nuances and the respect for the diversity of opinions. It results in a very elaborated conception of ‘jurisdiction’, based both on practice and doctrine. Numerous commentators have testified to the intrinsic quality of the analysis of a complex subject, following the publication of the thesis in the prestigious collection of the Oxford Monographs of International Law.
The jury constituted with a view to the award of the prize Henri Rolin 2012 consisted of professors Piet Eeckhout, Rusen Ergec, Marc Fallon, Michel Melchior and Karel Wellens.

L'analyse est le fruit d'une réflexion structurée apportant une contribution à l'état des connaissances scientifiques. Elle bénéficie d'une expression claire et nuancée, apte à construire une argumentation synthétique et innovante. La thèse exprime bien la complexité du sujet, ainsi que le sens des nuances et le respect pour la diversité d'opinions qui caractérise l'auteur.
