Centre IIMO
The Centre for Intercultural Theology, Interreligious Dialogue, Missiology and Ecumenism (Centre IIMO) is an expertise centre within the Department of Religious Studies and Theology. Its researchers investigate developments in world Christianity. More in particular, they study the transformation of Christian traditions in ever-changing social and cultural contexts, and in the encouter with other religions. Topics such as contextualization of theology and Christianity, interreligious dialogue, globalisation and religion and conflict feature prominently on the research agenda.
Collections
Centre IIMO has a well catalogued collection of books and journals which is part of the Utrecht University Library collection. Containing 12,000 volumes and 600 current journal subscriptions from around the world, the collection of Centre IIMO is an important source for researchers working in the field of world Christianity. Exchange
Four times a year and in collaboration with Brill publishers, Centre IIMO publishes the English-language, peer-reviewed journal: Exchange: A Journal of Missiological and Ecumenical Research.
Sharing knowledge
Centre IIMO staff members conduct research, are involved in academic teaching and share their knowledge with social and ideological organisations within the Netherlands and abroad. The latter is done by means of policy advice, lectures, publications and the IIMO seminars.
