In this lecture Prof. Moira Gatens challenges the disconnection between reason and imagination, argument and persuasion, and truth and fiction, through a critical engagement with the work of George Eliot.

Moira GatensMoira Gatens (Sydney University) currently holds the Spinoza Chair at the University of Amsterdam. Her work centers on social and political philosophy, ethics, 17th century philosophy (especially Spinoza) and feminist theory.
 

The lecture was held within the Doing Gender series and was jointly organised by Utrecht University's Graduate Gender Programme (GGeP), Centre for the Humanities and the Landelijk Netwerk Vrouwenstudies Filosofie (Dutch Network for Genderstudies in Philosophy). Read more about the lecture.
