Paul Gilroy visits the CfH in September

The Centre for the Humanities is proud to welcome back the outstanding scholar and CfH Senior fellow Professor Paul Gilroy, from September 19 to 22.
In 2009 Professor Gilroy was the first holder of the Treaty of Utrecht Chair at Utrecht University. With his outstanding resume in the field of sociology, postcolonial studies, social and critical theory, Professor Gilroy forges the links between cosmopolitanism, post-socialist Europe, postcolonial and postsecular movements and shifts boundaries of self and other in globalised Europe. Gilroy currently works as a professor at the London school of economics (LSE). He also taught at Yale University where he was Charlotte Marian Saden Professor of Sociology and African American studies as well as chair of the African American Studies department. Paul Gilroy is the first holder of the Anthony Giddens Professorship in Social Theory.

On September 20, Professor Gilroy will give a public lecture entitled 'Fanon and the value of the human'.
On September 19 and 22, Professor Gilroy will lead two masterclasses for (R)MA and PhD students. More information on the programme can be found in our events section.
