Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson visits CfH
By invitation of the Embassy of the United States in The Hague and in collaboration with Kosmopolis Utrecht, the Centre for the Humanities is proud to present a public Interview with Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson.
Isabel Wilkerson, who spent most of her career as a national correspondent and bureau chief at The New York Times, is the first black woman to win a Pulitzer Prize in the history of American journalism and was the first black American to win for individual reporting. Inspired by her own parents’ migration, she devoted fifteen years to the research and writing of this book. She interviewed more than 1,200 people, unearthed archival works and gathered the voices of the famous and the unknown to tell the epic story of the relocation of an entire people in The Warmth of Other Suns. http://isabelwilkerson.com/
Student Probes of New Journalism
In this public interview, Isabel Wilkerson will give a talk about the research and writing process of her Pulizer Prize winning book The Warmth of Other Suns. Following an interview with documentary director and journalist Babette Niemel, students and other young journalists, will be given the opportunity to ask questions concerning new approaches in journalism, history of migration and correlating identities in Europe.
