Among other activities there will be two conferences and an international masterclass with Donna Haraway, as well as a symposium with Bourke, Haraway and Rosi Braidotti. The Treaty of Utrecht Chair is an initiative of the Province of Utrecht in collaboration with the Centre for the Humanities and the Treaty of Utrecht Organisation.
Prof. Donna Haraway is an internationally recognised feminist theorist and philosopher of science and technology. Her book Simians, Cyborgs, and Women: The Reinvention of Nature (1991) has become the authoritative text in theorising the politics of the post-human, the cyborg, the techno-mythological ideal and its promised utopias. In her latest work, When species meet (2008), Prof. Haraway focuses on historically situated human-animal relationships in science, agriculture, sport, and kinship.
