PhD Activating Career Event 2012
On 5 and 6 March 2012 the third edition of the PhD Activating Career Event (PhACE) will be held in Utrecht. During this two-day event, PhD candidates in the penultimate year of their degree course are invited to explore a variety of career options.
Do you wish stay in academia? What are your other options and how do your skills and competences fit into any new career choices? PhACE will encourage you to actively decide on the career path you wish to follow. The programme is an investment that will make you more conscious of your career options and at the same time will enhance your soft skills.
PhACE is free of charge to all Utrecht University PhD candidates in their third or penultimate year. Programme and registration details will be announced soon. Meanwhile, take a look at the PhACE website for an impression of the second edition of PhACE, which took place in October 2011.
“Every PhD sometimes wonders: "What to do after my PhD?" We also did and, therefore, we decided to apply for the two-day PhACE event, hoping to get more insight into what possibilities we would have after completing our PhDs. Together with 60 other PhDs from various disciplines we attended two days filled with workshops and presentations. The workshops dealt with questions like "What are my skills?", "What do I really want to do?" and "How do I get there?" In the presentations we were given a range of examples of the directions our career could take after our degree. Also, it was fun to meet with so many other PhDs working in completely different research areas. After having gathered all this new knowledge about our various options, wishes and skills, we can now start to look for our dream job with a happy PhACE!”
