Sharing Knowledge
Besides education and research, the faculty considers it one of her core responsibilities to share its knowledge with parties outside of the academic world. We apply our expertise in the broad field of the humanities in many ways to contribute to current debates in society.
Activities for a wide audience
Researchers at the Faculty of Humanities contribute to many cultural activities in and around Utrecht, such as the Culturele Zondagen (Cultural Sundays), the Studium Generale lecture series, the Festival Oude Muziek (Early Music Festival) and the Domplein2013 project. We also collaborate with, among others, the platform Basis voor Actuele Kunst and Vrede van Utrecht (Treaty of Utrecht). The Centre for the Humanities organises public lectures, debates and other activities demonstrating the importance of the humanities for society.
In the media
Utrecht humanities scholars share their knowledge with a wide audience by means of regular appearances in the media. An overview is given in the section Geesteswetenschappers in de media (in Dutch).
Centre for the Humanities
The Centre for the Humanities is not only the platform for pioneering work, but also for innovative research and research training activities. The faculty presents itself to the outside world by displaying their most excellent research through the Centre. This way a broader non-academic audience can become aware of the relevance of the humanities.
Commissioned research
Your company or institute can commission the faculty to carry out scientific research. Your project will be carried out by highly qualified and experienced researchers. Many assignments involve research into company history, but contract activities by humanities scholars may also lead to an independent advice, the creation of a website or database, or a contribution to a conference or exhibition.
