Innovation Studies

Mission

The mission of the Innovation Studies is to understand and communicate the dynamics of emerging technologies and innovations that are relevant for societal problems. 

Research schools

Our research aims at further development of public innovation policies and firm innovation strategies by means of evaluation research and the improvement of evaluation methods. We participate in the national research schools:

• The Netherlands Graduate School of Science, Technology and Modern Culture (WTMC) 
• Socio-Economic and Natural Sciences of the Environment SENSE

Copernicus Institute

The research group is part of the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development and Innovation. Our research is multidisciplinary and combines technology and innovation studies. Our group consists of social scientists and scientists.

Micro and macro level

Our research focuses both at the level of individual firms, sectors, and at the level of systems of innovations. We study a limited set of technologies, including energy technology, packaging technology, nanotechnology, ICT, genetic engineering, and transport technologies.
