Chair: Coastal Morphodynamics 

Our scientific staff actively participates in the BSc programme Earth Sciences and the MSc programme Physical Geography – Track Coastal Dynamics,  Fluvial Systems and Global Change.

The MSc track is a two-year programme (120 ects). This programme offers a fundamental and policy-oriented knowledge of the processes and phenomena that determine the morphodynamic behaviour of coastal and river systems. The student can focus on coasts and/or rivers. The programme comprises 6-8 theoretical courses (45-60 ects),  a field trip to coastal and fluvial (and fluvio-glacial) environments in NW Germany and Denmark (MSc excursion), a research project and MSc thesis (in total 45 ects) and an individual programme/traineeship (30 ects). The coastal part of the programme is run by Prof. dr. Piet Hoekstra; his colleague Prof. dr. Hans Middelkoop is responsible for the fluvial component of the programme.
