Ever see a biconic shape rolling up a slope? Or a piece of aluminium floating? These are possibilities at the Universiteitsmuseum (University Museum), set in the heart of Utrecht. Here, amazement and admiration go hand in hand.

Science experience

Gaze at preserved foetuses in the cabinet of professor of medicine, Jan Bleuland. Get hands-on experience in the Kennislab (Knowledge Lab) or the Jeugdlab (Youth Lab). Mentally shake the hand of Utrechter professor Donders who, at his own expense, set up a walk-in clinic for eye patients. Science comes to life in many ways in this striking building. The museum garden De Oude Hortus tells another story: the specialised trees and plants are the only living items of the museum collection.
