Pleas note! This information only applies to students who receive a student grant from DUO.

If you are going to follow a teacher-training course (ULO) at Utrecht University, you may be entitled to a performance-related grant for a further year. This will depend on the type of teacher training course and how much you have already received.

If you are no longer eligible for a student grant, you may be able to apply for an allowance for teachers (Dutch). Applications must be submitted to DUO by 31 August 2010.

Student who are receiving a performance-linked student grant may be eligible for an additional student grant for a subsequent Master’s degree programme.

Two-year ULO Master's degree programme

Including the time it takes for you to complete your Bachelor’s degree programme, you can receive a performance-linked student grant for a maximum of five years. You can apply for an additional student grant for 12 months (Dutch) via the DUO website.

You will not be eligible for this extension if:

• You have already completed a Master’s degree programme that qualifies you to teach all classes at senior general secondary education (HAVO) and pre-university education (VWO).
• You will completing a university-level teacher training programme as defined in the old regime (oude stijl).
• You have already completed a Master’s degree programme at higher professional education (HBO) level.

One-year Master’s degree programme to qualify as a teacher at preparatory higher education (VHO) level (+ school subject)

You can apply for an additional student grant for 12 months (Dutch) via the DUO website. For the question about where you will be studying, enter: “Utrecht University IVLOS, Heidelberglaan 8, 3584 CS Utrecht”. For the question about which programme you will complete, enter the name of the programme and the associated code:

Please note: After approval, DUO will e-mail you to inform you that the definitive performance-linked loan (DLP) has been awarded for the additional year of the teacher-training course. As soon as you earn the diploma, the DLP will be converted into a gift.
