Job applications
You are welcome to apply for all advertised vacancies. Each vacancy includes the preferred application procedure.
Utrecht University is aware of the importance of clear and fair application procedures. We therefore adhere to the Recruitment Code of the Dutch Association for Personnel Management & Organisation Development (NVP recruitment code).
Open job applications
If you have been unable to find or obtain a suitable vacancy at the University, you may still want to inform us about your skills and availability.
We, however, advise you not to simply send your open application to ‘Utrecht University’ but, instead, to target a particular department within the University. For instance, enquire at the faculty or service department you are interested in as to whether open job applications are appreciated. If so, find out whom to address your application to.
Special provisions
It may seem obvious, but our top priority is to find the ‘right person for the job’. We therefore want to fill the vacancy with a candidate who is of the required level and who is able to work the required number of hours.
Candidates who require special provisions are not obliged to mention this in their letter of application, unless they apply for a position which, based on the Medical Examinations Act, requires the candidate to undergo a medical examination prior to appointment.
If you should be invited for a job interview, these special provisions will eventually have to be discussed during the procedure. This may occur during the job interview or during a subsequent separate interview. We may also invite professionals to participate in the interview, for example from the corporate health care sector.
We, however, strongly believe that any such impediments should not at all hinder your application procedure.
