Short Stay < 90 days

If you intend to stay in the Netherlands for a period less than 90 days, you will have to register with the Aliens Police within 3 days of arrival. This is obligatory if you are not a national of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland. If you are staying in the (police) region of Utrecht, you may register electronically (Dutch only).

Citizen Service Number

If you intend to stay in the Netherlands for a period that is shorter than 4 months, you will not automatically receive a Citizen Service Number (BurgerServiceNummer, or simply BSN). However, you may still need a BSN for official types of registration. Some banks require this for the opening of a bank account.
