General Senior Citizens’ Scheme 2006

The General Senior Citizens’ Scheme 2006 is the current scheme applying to senior employees of Utrecht University.

This scheme provides for work relief for senior employees in the form of a shorter workweek.
As of their 59th birthday, full-time employees are entitled to a four-day workweek while retaining their full salary. However, opting for a four-day workweek excludes them from some benefits, such as 'age days' and, as of their 60th birthday, the 'senior staff leave' of thirty minutes per day.
The workweek of part-time senior employees is shortened on a pro rata basis.

Employees who use the senior citizens' scheme, retain all rights provided for by this scheme until they reach the age of 65.

Apart from the Senior Citizens’ Scheme, employees can also use the Flexible Pension and Retirement (FPU) Scheme.
