Inappropriate Behaviour (Complaints Procedure)

The Complaints Procedure dealing with complaints about intimidation, aggression, violence and discrimination has been effective from 1988. In addition, the University had drawn up a Code of Conduct on Inappropriate Behaviour, which is aimed at both preventing and fighting inappropriate behaviour.

Inappropriate behaviour

Inappropriate behaviour refers to any behaviour deemed undesirable by the person involved, ranging from inappropriate comments or looks, to beatings or rape.

All students and employees of Utrecht University can lodge their complaints with the University Counsellor whose task it is to provide information, care, guidance and mediation. All complaints will be treated confidentially.

Committee

If meditation proves unsuccessful, the employee may file a complaint with the Complaints Committee. The Complaints Committee will investigate the complaint and advise the Executive Board on possible measures. The specific complaints procedure is laid down in the >Complaints Procedure dealing with complaints about intimidation, aggression, violence and discrimination. The University Counsellor will be able to assist in lodging the complaint.
