Publicising your business
There are different ways in which you can create awareness of your business among students and researchers of Utrecht University.
Corporate events
Students see profession-related and informal gatherings as good ways to get in contact with future employers. Corporate open days and other career events score highly. You can publicise your events to students through the Student Calendar. To post an event, please complete and submit the online job market calendar application form (only in Dutch).
Career Day
Career Day aims to put our students, young alumni and PhD candidates in direct contact with a range of national and international businesses. The event sets out to achieve this aim by hosting workshops, training sessions, corporate presentations, one-to-one conversations, a business fair, and other activities. Career Day is a choice opportunity for your business to get in direct contact with our students.
Sponsorship opportunities
Utrecht University hosts a range of events that provide opportunities for business exposure. Together with institutions including Hogeschool Utrecht, the New Student Orientation Committee, which is a committee staffed by students, initiated the Utrecht Orientation Programme for first-year Bachelor’s and Master’s Students.
In addition, the University is home to various student organisations that are active in the area of career orientation. Have a look at the overview of student organisations.
Named funds
You are very welcome to create a fund in the name of your business. Through a named fund, your business has the opportunity to, for instance, encourage a specific programme to recruit talented national and/or international students. In this way, your organisation will connect with a programme and create brand awareness, engagement and involvement. If you would like to know more about what is possible, please contact Robbert Jan Feunekes (phone: (030) 253 8680; email R.J.Feunekes@uu.nl).
Guest lectures
Various degree programmes welcome guest lectures by business and public-sector professionals. Guest lectures enable students to gain knowledge of your organisation and provide an opportunity for you to publicise career options. Guest lectures are an ideal way to create brand awareness and a positive brand image.

Tailored events
If your business plans to host an event for a specific group of students (per programme or per Faculty), please contact the student organisation of the Faculty or programme concerned. Some of the University’s science shops are able to coordinate between you and the relevant programme or Faculty.
Alumni mentors
Utrecht University alumni employed at your organisation are very welcome to become mentors in the University’s mentoring programme, the Mentor Mentee System. Through this programme, alumni mentors help students prepare for their chosen careers. If you are interested to get involved in this or other ways, please contact the Alumni Office of Utrecht University.
Workshops and training courses
Running job application training courses for students is a great opportunity for your business to create a relationship with students and, at the same time, to prepare them for the job application process. Students expect that job application training will increase their chances in the job market, especially if it offers real-life tips and examples. Students are particularly interested in business-run courses and workshops in the areas of:
- job interviews
- online personal branding
- writing an attractive CV
If your organisation is interested, please contact Jacky Limvers.
