The Graduate School of Humanities at Utrecht University offers outstanding Research Master’s programmes and PhD courses for talented Dutch and international students. Our graduate programmes are closely linked to the excellent research programmes of the Faculty of Humanities. Utrecht University is one of Europe’s leading research universities, ranking ninth in Europe and first in the Netherlands according to the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities 2008. The Faculty of Humanities is particularly renowned for its research in the fields of Linguistics, Social and Economic History, Medieval Studies, Philosophy and Women’s Studies.

Our teaching has a strong international orientation. There is a constant flow of international guest-lecturers and visitors. Students come from all over Europe, but also from the USA, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
