Start New Academic Year 2012 - 2013 and tribute to the departing President of Utrecht University

Professor André Knottnerus, Chair of the Scientific Council for Government Policy will deliver the opening speech entitled ‘Science and Public Affairs’. This address will be followed by a speech by Halbe Zijlstra, MSc, State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science who will present his vision of Higher Education policy.

The next part of the programme will consist of the awarding of the Student Prizes: the 2012 Prize for Exceptional Extra-curricular or Social Achievements, and the 2012 Prize for Best Graduate Thesis. The last part of the ceremony will feature a tribute to the departing President of Utrecht University, Yvonne C.M.T. van Rooy, LLM.

The reception hosted by the Executive Board will take place in the courtyard of the University Library (City Centre). The academic procession will depart from the Dom Church and assemble at the entrance of the University Library (Drift 27) for its festive opening.
