Van der Vaart also appointed first honours dean 

Rob van der Vaart reappointed dean of University College Utrecht

Utrecht University’s Executive Board has appointed prof. dr. Rob van der Vaart to a second term as Dean of University College Utrecht (UCU), effective September 1st 2012. Van der Vaart has held this position since September 2008.

Rob van der VaartVan der Vaart has also been appointed honours dean of Utrecht University. In this capacity he will help the faculties set up honours colleges for bachelor programmes.  By the end of 2015 all UU faculties will have 3-year honours programmes for excellent students.

Rob van der Vaart (1951) studied human geography at Utrecht University, where he received his PhD in 1990. Since 1974 Van der Vaart has worked at Utrecht University. In 2004 he was appointed full professor of human geography. Within the university Van der Vaart is involved in a number of committees concerned with education, innovation and internationalization. He is a member of the Education Advisory Committee of Utrecht University, for example, and he also represents Utrecht University in the Oxford Network, a network aimed at reinforcing teaching and learning in a research-intensive environment.

The Executive Board is pleased that Rob van der Vaart is available for another term as head of University College Utrecht.

University College Utrecht, founded in 1998, is a selective Honours College of Utrecht University specializing in liberal arts and sciences education. It offers challenging, small-scale, English-taught academic education to talented students in an international environment.
